Not Most People Series: Kean Cipriano

The last entry to this series was since last year when I blogged about the legendary pop star Taylor Dayne. After that, I didn’t pay much attention to who should I feature next until yesterday when I saw from a Twitter message about Carlos Agassi, Deejay Durano and veteran actor, Eddie Garcia who all admitted that they had their gay experiences during a press con for Vice Ganda‘s new flick, “Praybeyt Benjamin” which also stars and leads us to our featured Not Most People Series for the day: Kean Cipriano.

Unlike fellow stars Carlos, Deejay and Eddie, Kean was the only one who doesn’t have a gay experience so Carlos jokingly uttered to him, “Sasabihin ko, Kawawa ka naman, Bro ikaw lang ang hindi.” So does this make Kean deserving of our Not Most People title??? I’ll leave that up to you.

But Kean, I believe, is truly not most people. The dude is makulit in terms of his views and personality. Take for instance the wordings from his Official Facebook Fan Page when he describe himself in the About folder: steady para walang hassle.. “marumi man ako tignan, pero malinis ako magmahal!” haha

Another classic was this intro excerpt from his interview with Ricky Lo‘s “Funfare” at Philstar: “Five years na akong hindi nakakakilala ng suklay,” says Kean who orders a glass of hot kalamansi juice. “It’s like that when I go to bed and it’s like that when I wake up. They say, magulong buhok, magulong buhay. But I don’t think it applies to me.”

When asked… “A Papa’s Boy?”, he replied: “Neither. My dad is my drinking buddy.” Another crazy response when asked what food he craves for aside from tuyo: “’Yung pusit na iniihaw sa sementeryo. Sarap!”

As an actor, he’s definitely not most people as only a few will be given a chance to represent your country at the Oscar’s. Yup. Kean who played Direk Rainier at “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” is Philippines’ official entry to the Best Foreign Film of the 84th Academy Awards. The movie was a lot of firsts for Kean: his first starring movie role ever, first Cinemalaya movie entry ever and first (movie) festival that he attended.

Kean who came from a prominent family of the Cipriano clan in Pasig (where I also grew up at spending my early adolescent until my early college days in that fantastic city) could be the grandson of the late Cipriano couple (who were our tenants that time at San Roque Ext., Bagong Ilog, Pasig) when Kean replied to my Twitter message to him yesterday:

That Cipriano Gravel & Sand was one of the famous & oldest landmarks in Pasig, any true anak ng Pasig would know and I was thrilled to hear straight from Kean that it was actually theirs.

So to Kean, this is my tiny way of giving my kudos to you for being a proud product of Pasig and for being not most people. All the best to your career and your future endeavors! Keep rocking!
