Azkals Also Made News For Philippines On November 24, 2012

Three global beauty pageants were held yesterday: Miss Earth 2012 in Manila in which our very own Stephany Stefanowitz was crowned Miss Air; Mister International 2012 in Bangkok as I foreseewherein our representative did not make it even as one of the finalists (proving that the phrase, “The third time’s the charm” is not really always the case when a back-to-back victory for Philippines eventuated both in the Land of Smiles earlier this month for Kevin Balot who nabbed the title Miss International Queen 2012 and for June Macasaet who won the Manhunt International 2012 belt); and last but not the least, a 1st Runner Up victory for Andrew Wolff on the Mister World 2012 competition held in Kent, England.

But you see, it’s not just “beauty & brains” day for the Philippines yesterday. It was also about sports as our very own Azkals (portmanteau of Filipino slang term, “Asong Kalye” or “Street Dog”) did their very best to score at least 1 goal over Thailand‘s War Elephants who tallied 2 goals at Rajamangala Stadium here in Bangkok during the opening of the Group A matches in the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup.

The Azkals will have two more round of games to wrap up this week hoping to emerge victoriously over Vietnam on November 27 and with Myanmar on the 30th.

In the long run, I just want to congratulate each and everyone of them whether they represented our country on the stage of pageantry or in a sports arena…for making us Filipinos so proud. Mabuhay to all of you!

BONA’s Steamy Moments On Stage…

…and it’s all for art’s sake!

The 1980 classic drama film which starred Superstar Nora Aunor as “Bona” is now being brought to stage by Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), director Soxy Topacio and Palanca playwright winner Layeta Bucoy with a modern take from drama to a more comical perspective fit for Eugene Domingo who now plays the titular character who works as a spinster call center agent obsessed with a reality TV search wannabe, Gino Sanchez played by a reality TV show contest (Mr. Pogi) winner himself,  Edgar Allan Guzman.

Broadway World Philippines and photographer Jory Rivera give us a first look of the play who already garnered raving reviews and even a standing ovation from the audience for Eugene Domingo. Here are the rest of the “steamy acts”

and for the “climax”, emote kung emote na dito si Kimmy Dora…

To “cool down” everyone, here are the photos of Bona giving a bath to Gino. Did I just say “cool down”? Well, it all depends on how you view these pics starting from the chest

…then to the right nipple…

…down there (where all life begins—I’m playing Madge’s song in my head while writing this)

I’m sure a lot of people would be able to relate with Bona’s character giving her all just to suffice the desires of her heart for the guy who thinks is “the one”. Sisters, don’t tell meifyou are not familiar with these moves from your lovahs…

“Lantsing”…

“Masahe”…

“Makamandag na Halik”…

But on top of all these “sensational” teasers that you see, what is truly compelling about Bona are the sheer brilliance from the casts’ acting (both Domingo and Guzman) and its very humorous, entertaining lines.

Eugene shines in every role that she plays whether in a movie, TV or in theater but Edgar is at par here with his nuance performance.  I’m sure everyone’s all ears at Eugene’s but the scrutinizing eyes of the audience are at Edgar Allan’s…

The play opened last Tursday, August 23 and runs until September 23, 2012 at the PETA Theater Center (No.5 Eymard Drive, New Manila, QC). Tickets are available at: P1,000, P800, P600. Don’t miss it!

(Special thanks once again to Oliver Oliveros of Broadway World Philippines and Jory Rivera for the photos.)
